Mercedes-Benz Will Again Be a Partner in arteBA and Will Acquire Contemporary Works of Art for Its Important Collection

In its commitment to fostering art, Mercedes-Benz will for the second year in a row support arteBA as a partner in the arteBA´10 Contemporary Art Fair.

As an avant premiere, Mercedes-Benz will present at its arteBA’10 stand an exclusive selection of reproductions from the works in the Daimler Art collection, which will for the first time include contemporary Argentine art. The new acquisitions will be announced during the fair.

The firm has built up one of the major corporate collections in the world, featuring artists such as Jeff Koons, Andy Warhol, Max Bill, Walter de María and Nam June Paik. And as a part of its commitment to art, this year Mercedes-Benz will be presenting this impressive collection in Argentina, which will be on view beginning in August at MALBA, (the Museum of Contemporary Latin American Art of Buenos Aires).

Mercedes-Benz is the world’s oldest brand of automobile. In its more than 120 years of history, which begins with the very creation of the automobile, the design of vehicles has always played a key role. Mercedes-Benz has also distinguished itself as the brand responsible for a number of icons in automobile design.

Creation of the brand has been the fundamental factor in the devising of Mercedes-Benz’s philosophy. Nowadays any child can recognize a Mercedes-Benz. Nevertheless, determining how design shapes an automobile marks the strategic vision for the future that a corporation has.

Mercedes-Benz invests in the design of its products as a way in which to introduce concepts. Design is not an isolated characteristic, but rather an integral part of an automobile’s personality. It expresses that vehicle’s character through the creation of an identity, the interaction between technology and form, tradition and the future. And since design has to endure, it avoids passing fashions. In this way, sustainable design strengthens familiarity with Mercedes-Benz and its unique tradition as a brand dating back more than a century.
