The Proa Foundation Once Again to Sponsor the the Press Room at arteBA’10

For the fifth year in a row, Fundación Proa will sponsor the Press Room [Sala de Prensa] at arteBA Contemporary Art Fair, which will be held between June 25 and 29 at the Convention site La Rural. This year, the foundation has called on the virtual space RedGalería [“Net Gallery”] to intervene during the fair with an art project in the journalists’ work area.

RedGalería, together with artist Marta Calí, will create a space for reflection on how the communications media construct news out of the succession and repetition of images. The work will comprise a series of mirrors and cameras strategically placed to reflect what’s taking place inside and around the stand. The images will continually be reproduced simultaneously on various monitors located throughout the Press Room. The result will be a re-creation of some large communications medium’s news editing room.

In so choosing RedGalería, the Proa Foundation, is setting up a dialogue among the new languages of art in a time of information and communication technology – and choosing arteBA Fair as the right space in which to stage that dialogue.
