Patio Bullrich Again to Join with arteBA in Supporting Projects by Recognized Artists

For the third year in a row, Patio Bullrich joins with arteBA in lending support by its presence to projects by recognized artists. This year, the artist chosen is Edgardo Giménez.

Patio Bullrich will be sponsoring the reconstruction of the installation by Giménez used to give atmosphere to Psexoanálisis, the 1967 film by director Héctor Olivera that is considered Argentina’s first “pop” film.

“The participation of Patio Bullrich lets viewers get acquainted with works of great importance and highest quality that have not previously been seen in this country and thus enrich the contents of the Fair. Quite in keeping with Pop art, it will be possible not only to appreciate Edgardo Giménez’s work, but to interact with it. Alongside the installation there will be a small microcinema in which viewers can get to know the work’s construction process,” says Diego del Río, Center Manager of Patio Bullrich.

At arteBA ’10 Edgardo Giménez presents the public with a work that has up to now reached them only by way of cinema. “It seems interesting to me that people can now view it face to face, without any filter, because I think it very clearly defines the excess and creative freedom of the Pop movement (according to French art critic Pierre Restany, the golden age of Argentine art). Undoubtedly, Pop was a movement of great consequence: the first creative adventure that in the heyday of a commercialist era managed to bring art to fashion, film, music, theatre, home design. The only art movement that incorporated creation in the day-to-day, in life itself,” explains Giménez.

Edgardo Giménez has devoted himself to the visual arts without restriction to area (painting, architecture, sculpture, graphic design, objects in daily use). All these activities have been of local and international importance, and today are well represented in museums and private collections.

The work by Edgardo Giménez will be donated by the artist and Patio Bullrich for the opening of MAMbA Museum in 2010. This donation will be the first stage of the donations project of Patio Bullrich and the General Directorate of Museums of the Culture Ministry of the City of Buenos Aires, which will be launched on the occasion of arteBA´10.

Through this activity, Patio Bullrich continues to support arteBA, the most important art fair in both Argentina and Latin America.
