BANCO CIUDAD will again be on the scene at arteBA’10, presenting the project “Bicentenary Obelisks” and the series “Living Room Chats,” and showing works from its collection

The Banco Ciudad will once more be a presence at arteBA, upholding its commitment to culture and to art in all its expressions. For this new Fair, the Banco Ciudad and its Foundation will present the project “Obelisks of the Bicentenary.” It consists of the free intervention in the work “Obelisco” by artist Nora Iniesta (who is also the project’s curator), by 25 outstanding artists, both emerging and well-established ones. Iniesta’s work was presented at “Espacio Niño” [“the Kids’ Space”] at the 2009 arteBA, in which more than 500 children took part with a small piece “obelisco/alcancía” [obelisk/collection box].

Among the participating artists will be Clorindo Testa, Rogelio Polesello, Eduardo Mac Entyre, Marta Minujín and Carolina Antoniadis. Taking as a platform the diversity, richness and artistic-cultural multiplicity of the City of Buenos Aires, the project’s aim will be to shape, by way of these artists’ legacy, this multi-faceted creative inspiration.

The pieces will be presented and exhibited publicly at emblematic sites in the city. They will later be auctioned off, to benefit the municipal government’s Programs to fight child labor, it which it has assisted by longtime NGOs that work every day against this scourge that prevents many children in the Argentine capital from safely enjoying their childhood.

The project "Obelisks of the Bicentenary” will have a wide circulation that will ensure its importance beyond the art world, as a message of civic identity, in the framework of the celebrations of the Bicentenary and within view by all sectors of our society.

Also, the Banco Ciudad stand will exhibit the latest works to join its collection, and, as in previous years, will hold the traditional series “Charlas de Living” [“Living Room Chats.”]

As an innovation, the Banco Ciudad will also present a work by artist Diego Bianchi.

In this way, the Banco Ciudad boosts its effort and reinforces its desire to make its art collection available to its neighbors and situates the Bank, beyond its financial role, as a participant in the identity of the City.
