LA RURAL WILL ACQUIRE ART FROM ARTEBA´10, AS PART OF THE PLAN OF IMPULSARTE, AN INCENTIVE PROGRAM FOR CONTEMPORARY ART

La Rural, the major convention site of Buenos Aires, will be Silver Sponsor of arteBA´10 Contemporary Art Fair and – for the second year in a row – will acquire works of art, in keeping with Impulsarte, the incentive program for contemporary art that the partnership launched last year.

The Impulsarte program is part of La Rural’s Plan for Social Responsibility. Its aim is to encourage production of works by emerging Argentine artists, and promote the art market and arteBA Fair itself as a showcase for excellence in the artistic expression of Latin America.

La Rural’s incentive program in the visual arts is based on the annual acquisition of works of art during the arteBA Fair, works chosen by an acquisitions committee formed for that purpose. The program’s goal will be to create its own art collection, which will be shared with the community through its exhibition in various shows. On launching Impulsarte in 2009, La Rural acquired seven works from arteBA´09.

And as Silver Sponsor, La Rural will also participate actively in arteBA´10: it will have a stand of its own, will organize guided tours for special guests, who will be able, among other activities, to go hrough the exhibit in the hands of specialist curators.

Juan Pablo Maglier, Director of Institutional Relations for La Rural, Buenos Aires’s convention site, said: “Here at La Rural we’re counting strongly on Impulsarte and its strong year-by-year growth. We think of art as the cultural manifestation of the whole community, and as a partnership, we make a commitment to contributing to its development.”

Claudio Dowdall, Director General of La Rural, added: “With its 130-year history, La Rural is a part of the cultural legacy of Argentines and the setting in which to circulate and extend Buenos Aires’s wealth of artistic and cultural production. It is in that framework that we’re so proud to have been the site of arteBA for more than ten years, a fact that led us last year to make a firm decision to be more actively involved in it.”

About La Rural and its “RSE” Plan
La Rural defines itself not only as the leading center for exhibitions and events in the region, but also as a partnership with a strong social commitment to the community outside it, to the environment and to the human development of its surroundings.

For this reason, the partnership operates on a Plan for Entrepreneurial Social Responsibility, that includes socially committed programs linked to education, cultural, and care of the environment.
