ANALOGIES
AND CONFRONTATIONS Mission accomplished arteBA Foundation closes its first exhibit cycle in the Centro Cultural Recoleta with “Analogies and Confrontations”: other dialogues in Argentinean art. It was a cycle of six exhibitions in which we intended to present young curators without a great deal of such experience with the opportunity to test their abilities, their potential and show new values in the plastic world. The curators were: María de las Mercedes Reitano, María de los Angeles de Rueda, Corina Bellati, Micaela Patania, Mercedes Pérez Bergliaffa and Cristian Segura. The entries exhibited brought together diverse themes with the objective of exposing the public to different forms of seeing art, whether it be by comparing schools or by grouping experiences around an idea. That is how the exhibits came to be: The 1960s en Galería Bonino; Art and Madness; Resonances; Grotesque and Parody; Project in transit and Analogies and Confrontations: other dialogues in Argentinean art. To all of them our congratulations for their work, our heartfelt thanks to the Centro Cultural Recoleta for allowing us to carry out this activity in its prestigious cultural scene, and we would like to acknowledge all our sponsors, whose generous cooperation helped Sala 10 come into existence. Analogies
and confrontations: other dialogues in Argentinean art This exhibit gathers a group of Argentinean works created in different historic moments between 1925 and 1998. Taking into account their particularities, the works suggest perceptions of aesthetic realities of their time. When confronted, they allow us to compare the creators of different generations, with different languages and universes, thus favouring, through new perspectives, a rediscovery of a valuable Argentinean hereditary legacy. We feel that there are works that are brought together –in a non hierarchical non linear way – and that they establish dialogues by themselves. From there, this timeless game of symbolic or visual correspondences, where different ways of approaching the same topics as well as the survival of frameworks, structures and subjects, can be appreciated. The participating artists are: Roberto Aizenberg, Ernesto Ballesteros, Héctor Basaldúa, Luis Fernando Benedit, Eduardo Capilla, Andrés Compagnucci, Martín Di Girolamo, Raquel Forner, Nicolás García Uriburu, Sebastián Gordín, Alfredo Gramajo Gutiérrez, Marcelo Pombo, Gyula Kosice, Agustín Riganelli, Josefina Robirosa y Carlos Torrallardona. ”Analogies and Confrontations: other dialogues in Argentinean art” presents itself without reservations in a concert that produces new and different effects of meaning and interpretation actions. Because the history of art is modified constantly from the present through new creations, but also through new interpretations. Cristian Segura* Curator (*) Independent curator and visual artist. Former Director of the Museo de Bellas Artes in Tandil. |
